The Minimalist Approach
Slow travel rewards light packing. When you're staying in one place for a week or more, you don't need multiple outfits per day. You'll develop favorite pieces, do laundry mid-trip, and discover that traveling light creates mental as well as physical freedom.
Essential Philosophy
Pack for activities, not days. Choose versatile, comfortable pieces you can mix and match. Prioritize quality over quantity. Remember: European cities have shops—you can buy anything you forget.
Core Packing List
- Comfortable walking shoes (already broken in)
- 3-4 tops that layer well
- 2 bottoms (pants or skirts)
- Light jacket or sweater
- One dressier outfit for restaurants
- Undergarments for 4-5 days
- Small daypack for daily walking
- Travel journal and pen
- Reusable water bottle
- Basic toiletries (buy full-size at destination)
- Phone charger and adapter
- Small first aid kit
What to Leave Behind
Hair dryer (hotels have them), multiple pairs of shoes, "just in case" items, excessive electronics, heavy guidebooks (use our digital guides), travel-size toiletries beyond your first night.
